Boy injured in Rafah

At 9.00 pm an unidentified object exploded in the hands of a 13 year old boy in the block J area in Rafah camp.

Islamic Jihad calls for demonstrations

Islamic Jihad has called for a demonstration to converge on the PLC building in Gaza city after fourth prayers in response to the earlier deaths in Tulkarm. A similar call has gone out in Khan Younis with demonstrators being called to march on Tuffah check point.

Abu Elreesh Brigades call for demonstration.

A demonstration will take place in Beach Camp at 6.30 pm. It is believed to be in response to the Palestinian deaths in Tulkarm and to have been called by the Abu Elreesh Brigades.

Israeli armour moves into Elmazra street

Early this evening, 2 tanks and 1 bulldozer moved out of Kfar Darom settlement into Elmazra street and started to erect sand barriers near two houses belonging to the Bashir family.

Hamas celebrations in Nuseirat camp

At 5.30 pm , Hamas organised a march in Nuseirat Camp as a continuing celebration of the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Around 1000 people participated, including 50 masked members of the Al Qassam Brigades

Mortars fired from Beit Hanoun

Two mortars were fired from Beit Hanoun towards the border line at 3.40 by Palestinian militants. The mortars landed east of Erez. No injuries are reported.

Settlement areas after the final withdrawal

Haaretz reports today that some 10,000 PA police officers will position themselves in Palestinian neighbourhoods adjacent to the settlements after the IDF completes its withdrawal. Their presence will be designed to stop thousands of Palestinians flooding the former settlement areas.

The PA police is expected to declare the settlement areas a closed military zone with no entry permitted for several months.

Gaza Terminals

Today, 150 Palestinian workers entered Israel and 40 factory owners into Erez industrial zone.
Patients and "humanitarian" cases are being allowed to cross into Israel with coordination from the Israeli DCL.

Rafah terminal remains open for passenger movement in and out of Gaza, although coordination is still required for Palestinian males aged 16 to 35 years.

Karni and Nahal Oz have been open each day since Monday, 22 August when they closed to coincide with the evacuation of Netzarim.

Rockets fired at Sderot

In the last hour two rockets were fired by Palestinian militants from north eastern Gaza. One of the rockets landed on the outskirts of Sderot.

This is the first such attack against a target in Isreal since the disengagement began.

The IDF observation post located on Abu Al Ajin road to the north of Qissufim has been dismantled.

Kidnapping threat

Palestinian security forces alerted the UN on Wednesday evening to a potential kidnapping threat in the Rimal area of Gaza city. This led the UN to impose movement restrictions on its international staff, that were lifted at dawn on Thursday.

This threat comes in the wake of five abductions in recent weeks.

Demolition of former settler homes began in Elei Sinai earlier this morning.

A UN field visit to Siafa in northern Gaza on Wednesday confirmed the total destruction of Dugit settlement and partial destruction of Nissanit.
